Open Thinkering

Weeknote 42/2024

Bagpiper on jetty at loch bear Callendar, Scotland

I’m writing this on my phone under a blanket while watching Man Utd vs Chelsea on TV. It’s the third match I’ve watched today after my son and daughter’s matches earlier.

It’s been half-term this past week so they’ve both been off school; as usual, my wife and I have taken time off. We usually go on holiday, but this year there was a family wedding in Scotland so we had a few days up there either side. It was a lovely event, the weather was great, and we enjoyed the cottage in which we stayed.

Afterwards, Hannah’s sister and family stayed in Morpeth and spent a couple of days with us. I don’t think they’ve been up here to visit since my niece and nephew were quite young!

There’s not a lot else to report. I published a “calling myself into the office” post for this month but nothing else. It’s good to just have a break sometimes.

Next week will be busy as I need to ensure that we get the draft of the NDLN Horizon Report work I mentioned last week, as well as continuing work on the AI Sustainability principles for Friends of the Earth.

My main focus, however, will be on travelling to Paris for  ePIC 2024 where I’ll be presenting and running a workshop. There’s also a rather consequential election happening, I hear.
